FAQ About Mini-Sessions

What is a mini-session?

A mini session is a shortened version of my regular family portrait photography session. Basically it allows me to get a few great family shots and then spend a little time getting a few shots of just the kids, individual shots and perhaps a few candids. A Mini-session is ideal for families who simply want some updated family shots for their holiday cards, Facebook, or frames. It is not ideal for those seeking lots of great candids or the in-between-the-moment shots, those who want outfit changes or a wide range of background looks. With mini sessions, there simply is not enough time to capture a great deal of emotional images inside of 30 minutes – if you are interested in these types of images I would recommend booking a regular family session.

All mini-sessions include an online proofing gallery and full product availability.

What is the cost of a mini session?
The cost of a twenty-five minute mini session is $150. The session fee is due at the time of booking via my online storefront, and is non-refundable.

When will my CD be ready?
Your finished images on CD will be ready approximately 14 days after your session date.

How do I sign up for a mini session?

Baby Caleb - Mesa AZ Newborn Photographer

This little guy is my newest nephew, Caleb. We were ecstatic to welcome another boy into the family since we are a little heavy on the girls! He and his cousin are outnumbered for sure, but at least they have each other. I got to photograph little Caleb at 9 days old and he was the sweetest little thing ever! He was such a great model and looked so cute and comfy most of the time that I didn't even want to move him. His mom and I just sat there and stared and him and all his adorableness! His shower theme was "Ready to Pop" so I just had to get a shot of him in a popcorn bucket. So much fun! Welcome to the world little guy!

Submit a current, non-professional photo of your child to

I will upload all photos to my Facebook Page on September 13th. Your job is to send the link to your family and friends so they can vote. The photo with the most “likes” wins.

You can only vote once. Voting will go from September 13th until September 20th.

The winner will be announced on September 21^st.

*Only one entry per child will be accepted (only one child per photo, if you have additional children, please send separate photos of each).

*You must be the parent or legal guardian of the child you enter the contest.

*Child must be between the ages of 0-12 years on the date of entry.

*For obvious reasons, professional photographs will not be accepted. (Don’t make me bust out copyright laws!)

*Photos will be accepted beginning 12:01am (AZ) Saturday, September 3, 2011 through Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:59pm (AZ) via email.

*Only photos e-mailed to photos@shannonruddphotography.com with the subject line CUTEST KID CONTEST will be accepted.

*Please include your child’s name and age in the e-mail (first name and age will be posted for viewing on Facebook), as well as your name, contact information and how you heard about this contest.

*Entrants must be residents of AZ, or must be willing to travel to me for the session. The session will take place in the East Valley of AZ. (Within 30 minutes of Gilbert, AZ)

This was Keeley's debut in the photography world and she was being a little stubborn during the shoot, but fortunately we were still able to capture her beauty. It was such a treat! It's not every day you get to photograph a horse and owner. They were rare beauties indeed!

I had a great time over at Mountain View High School in Mesa, Arizona, meeting the members of the East Valley Wrestling Club! A lot of these guys look so little, but they are strong and fierce! Pretty Little Girls!

Meet Hailey and Lily...two of the cutest girls I know! (Okay, I may be a little biased because they are my nieces.) But take a look for yourselves and tell me they aren't cute! It was fun to see these two again. It has been a couple of years and I can't believe how much they've grown! Hailey is the reigning Cinderella Tot for the State of Nevada (or she was...I am a little late on this post. She just gave up her crown this week), so her mom wanted a few portraits done with her robe and crown. She is definitely a little princess and her little sister, Lily, is no different (although she is at a tough, non-cooperative stage!). Nonetheless we snapped some good shots, and squeezed a few Easter pics in as well. It was a blast and I am glad we are a little closer now so we can see each other more often!

The weather teased us for this wedding, but it turned out to be a beautiful day! It is always so neat to see two families join together, along with the two individuals who fell in love. You could see the joy radiate from this couple and photographing the family together was an added bonus. The groom is from Ireland, and the bride is from the USA, so the theme of the reception was "We got the best of both worlds!" I thought it was adorable and I am grateful to have been a part of it. I can't believe we are already into April! The start of the year was very busy for me. Here are a few of my favorites from a wedding I did in January. No, the groom is not a fireman. Union High School Dance Competition - Live, Love, Dance!

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph the dance competition held at Union High School. This was my first experience with an event like this and it was really a lot of fun! I thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the dance numbers behind the camera. I was planning on having an extra photographer on hand to help me out but I ended up being the only one, so I definitely got a workout joggin' up and down the bleachers trying to get group and individual shots in a matter of 3-4 minutes! Action photography is really a lot of work!

Family Matters - AZ Family Photographer

The NW weather did not want to cooperate, so we ended up moving the session inside at the last minute. Class of 2009 - The Future Is Bright!

Life has been busy, but I am finally getting around to some sessions I have done in the past month. This first one was in Vancouver...where it is so green! Rachel is a graduating senior and is such a beautiful girl! I could not get over how blue her eyes were! It took her a while to loosen up for me, but she did after awhile! She was even willing to get in the waterfall for me!! What a great sport! If the rest of the graduating class is anything like her, our future will be bright!

Teething Troubles

I had the opportunity to photograph my adorable nephew, Cayden, in AZ last month. He is now 5 months old and is just growing up so fast! He was not a very happy camper that day (which is not normal for him), and we later found out that he was cutting his I-teeth...poor guy! No wonder he wasn't feeling so well! Despite his teething troubles, and with a little help from his Dad, we were able to get a few good shots of him! I love his baby rolls and his chubby thighs! He is just a bundle of joy!

The Olsen Family...and a first!

I had to opportunity to photograph the Olsen family while I was in Arizona last month. It was such a fun photo session and this was the first experience I had with animals in the pictures! (The dogs had a few ideas of their own! They did not want to hold still for too long!) The Olsen's have four beautiful girls, and 2 son-in-laws (well, one soon-to-be) who both have very fun personalities! It was fun to meet all of them and capture the connections they have with one another! They were great sports, even in the awful heat and humidity! Thanks Olsen Family!

What a great privilege it was to photograph this beautiful family in AZ! We did the shoot in this huge Ficus tree that was just massive and beautiful. The monsoon storm held out just long enough for us to finish! It was such a joy working with this family. There was even a sweet 7-week old baby boy in the bunch and this was his first photo shoot! I just returned from sunny (and not to mention HOT) Arizona! I did an engagement session for a couple getting married in September. They are a beautiful couple and were so fun to work with. They were all about being different! They even wanted to include their dog in some of the pictures! Unfortunately, the dog didn't want to sit still for very long, but we were able to get a few before she ran away. This couple had such a great connection though, and you could see it in their eyes and in their interactions with each other! You could really tell they were in love. I look forward to photographing them again on their wedding day! Congratulations Crystal and Chance!

My sister came into town and wanted me to take pictures of my niece. She is such a cutie and has the cutest little baby rolls. She is very photogenic and it was easy to get a smile out of her! Watch out mom, with these big blue eyes she is going to have to fight off the boys!
